| − | :::::::::: | + | :::::::::: These weeks and months see intensive work on digitizing ''P. A. Munch’s'' monumental '''Det norske Folks Historie''' ''(The History of the Norwegian People)'', the first comprehensive account of Norway’s history from antiquity to the Middle Ages, written from a national and source-critical perspective. In seven volumes, Munch portrays Norway’s ethnic and cultural origins, the kings of the saga age, and the country’s development toward the union period. The work combines philological precision with romantic nationalism and became foundational for Norwegian historiography. Munch’s interpretation of the Nordic past and his view of the Norwegian people as a distinct historical entity profoundly influenced both contemporary and later historians. |

HEIMSKRINGLA
HEIMSKRINGLA is the largest collection of Old Norse and Nordic source texts on the internet – currently some 8700 titles. HEIMSKRINGLA primarily consists of Eddic texts, sagas, and skaldic poetry, as well as background material and sources on Sami, Finnish, and Greenlandic culture. HEIMSKRINGLA is based on the belief that these texts – as part of our shared cultural heritage – should be freely accessible to everyone.
