HEIMSKRINGLA HEIMSKRINGLA is the largest collection of Old Norse and Nordic source texts on the internet – currently some 8600 titles. HEIMSKRINGLA primarily consists of Eddic texts, sagas, and skaldic poetry, as well as background material and sources on Sami, Finnish, and Greenlandic culture. HEIMSKRINGLA is based on the belief that these texts – as part of our shared cultural heritage – should be freely accessible to everyone.		SHOP
WE PRESENT: digitalized Solsönernas Saga By Valdemar Lindholm, 1909 Solsönernas Saga is the saga of the Sámi people. »It is a people,« writes the author, »who have thought and dreamt greatly — a people who have had their great thinkers and their heroes. A people of poets and dreamers. A peace-loving and good-hearted people, who have never sought conflict needlessly, but when conflict was demanded, they knew how to defend themselves both bravely and cunningly. But the wilderness was their land, and the wilderness has no history.« Lindholm’s work is folk poetry and consists of a series of independent legends, which together form a great Sámi epic, similar to the Finnish national epic, the Kalevala. The content is based on material collected by Anders Fjellner, Jakob Fellman, and by Valdemar Lindholm himself. SUBJECT: Samisk religion og mytologi	WE PRESENT: on print Den ældre Eddas gudesange By Karl Gjellerup, 1895 / 2025 The Poetic Edda, along with Snorri's Edda, serves as the main source of our knowledge of Norse mythology and is therefore essential for understanding the religious mindset of pre-Christian Scandinavia. It is divided into two parts: one dedicated to poems about the gods and another to heroic lays. Karl Gjellerup’s translation includes only the former. What sets this edition apart is its rich illustration and decoration by Lorenz Frølich, one of the foremost artists and illustrators of his time. In his translation, Gjellerup rearranges parts of the material, and the individual stanzas follow a strict and consistent metrical pattern. Order here:
