| − | + | :::::::::::Knud Rasmussen was neither the only nor the first to collect myths and legends in Greenland, but his collection is the most significant—not only because it is the largest (spanning approximately 1,000 standard pages) but also due to his unique qualifications, including his mastery of the Greenlandic language. The stories provide insight into Greenlandic perspectives on life, religion, and nature. With great storytelling flair, a wealth of legends is presented, illustrating the Greenlanders' imagination, humour, and gravity under the most extreme of living conditions. </FONT COLOR=darkblue> | |

HEIMSKRINGLA
HEIMSKRINGLA is the largest collection of Old Norse and Nordic source texts on the internet – currently some 8200 titles. HEIMSKRINGLA primarily consists of eddic texts, sagas, and scaldic poetry, secondarily of background material and sources related to Sami, Finnish, and Greenlandic culture. HEIMSKRINGLA is based on the belief that these texts – as part of our common cultural heritage – should be freely accessible to everyone.
