by Ivar Mortenson-Egnund, 1928 The Poetic Edda along with Snorri's Edda is our primary source for modern knowledge of Norse mythology and thereby to religious thinking in pre-Christian Scandinavia. Edda-kvæde – Norrøne fornsongar is Ivar Mortenson-Egnund's comprehensive Norwegian translation of The Poetic Edda. Apart from the translation itself this book contains a substantial section of comments to each poem, an index of names and a list of old Norwegian words and expressions, used in the translation. Edda-kvæde is regarded as one of Mortenson-Egnunds main works. This is a photographic reprint of the second edition, originally published in 1928. Published by HEIMSKRINGLA Reprint and available here. | |||||
