HEIMSKRINGLA HEIMSKRINGLA is the largest collection of Old Norse and Nordic source texts on the internet – currently some 8400 titles. HEIMSKRINGLA primarily consists of Eddic texts, sagas, and skaldic poetry, as well as background material and sources on Sami, Finnish, and Greenlandic culture. HEIMSKRINGLA is based on the belief that these texts – as part of our shared cultural heritage – should be freely accessible to everyone.		SHOP
WE PRESENT: digitalized Sagn og saga fra Angmagssalik By Jens Rosing, 1963 When Jens Rosing had completed the manuscript for SAGN OG SAGA and was asked about the book’s content, he replied: "It is a drama so intense that words cannot exaggerate it, and as powerful as only Indigenous peoples can experience it. It is a book filled with storms and tempests, yet also with many calm, sunlit days—just like the nature from which the Inuit shaped their spirit." The first legend dates back 20,000–30,000 years, to a time when the Inuit lived as mammoth hunters. Later, we witness terrifying periods when famine ravaged settlements, and cannibalism became a reality. SUBJECT: Greenlandic religion and mythology	WE PRESENT: on print Den ældre Eddas gudesange By Karl Gjellerup, 1895 / 2025 The Poetic Edda, along with Snorri's Edda, serves as the main source of our knowledge of Norse mythology and is therefore essential for understanding the religious mindset of pre-Christian Scandinavia. It is divided into two parts: one dedicated to poems about the gods and another to heroic lays. Karl Gjellerup’s translation includes only the former. What sets this edition apart is its rich illustration and decoration by Lorenz Frølich, one of the foremost artists and illustrators of his time. In his translation, Gjellerup rearranges parts of the material, and the individual stanzas follow a strict and consistent metrical pattern. Order here:
